Minimalism in beauty bag - 10 products

I used to have a huge selection of make up products, to be precise two big boxes, and I was not aware what exactly I have. As a teenager I did not like to throw away anything 'just in case'. Three different primers that make my face very dry? Ten times more eye shadows in crazy yet gorgeous colours, that I used once? Almost not used creams that remember Christmas two years ago? You could find little wastes like this in my make up boxes. Now I just ask myself: What is the point to have make up that I will use only once and then it will clutter the space? I threw away boxes, bought one proper, white make up bag and started looking for products that work for me well.

Simplicity is something that helps me to keep things e.g. expiry dates under control. To keep it this way:

Buy products that you need and when you need them. 3 for 2 is a great deal but only if I really need products. I do not store them for later.

Use what you already have and buy new one when you finished product at home.

I do not buy make up products for special occasions. Big factor for me is if product does what was promised when I purchased it. If it says brighter and less tired looking skin, I do want to see brighter and less tired skin when I do my daily or 'night out' make up. Eye shadows that are not lasting for longer than five hours? Not for me. At the end of the day, would you pay a full price for a car and then be happy when you receive only wheels? I would be seriously unimpressed.

When I was a very young teenager I loved and used with passion free samples from magazines. After particularly awful allergic reaction, awful enough to see consequences 10 years later, I have started to pay more attention to products' quality, effects and price.  My skin takes a long time to recover from allergic accidents so I am loyal to brands that are working with my skin well.

  1. Not long ago I had a huge makeup clear out. It's such a good idea, now I can actually find what I'm looking for.

Like you say, use what you already have before you buy more. However, for me, I must say, I'm a bit of a makeup addict and I can already see my collection growing once again. Oops.

    1. Hello Samio, I have to agree with you. My make up collection can grow so easily without supervision. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I really do not need another product. Have a lovely day, Iga x

  2. I had the same problem. I tend to buy crazy shades of makeup knowing full well i tend to gravitate more towards neutral shades.
I cleaned out my collection a few months ago.
    Great post.

  3. I love the naked pallet! I can't go anywhere without it now. I really need to have a clear out. I have 3 smaller eyeshadows all of similar shades and about 5 liquid eyeliners because I don't know which is the one that hasn't run out. You have definetly inspired me to write a make up must have post!

    1. Hello Katie, I am waiting for your makeup post then! Let me know when it's up. I used to have problems with missing or drying to quickly liquid eyeliners. For now we have a break from each other. Which one do you use? Have a lovely day Iga x

  4. I am a makeup junkie/collector and I did a clear out early this year. There are still a lot in my collection though. It's just so hard to let go. I think I need to go through my stash every few months to keep myself on tract. As for what's in my makeup bag, I have face primer (Benefit), eye primer (too faced), highlighting concealer pen (MAC), powder foundation (Chanel), lip balm (EOS), blusher (Etude House), lip gloss (Silky Girl), liquid eye liner (Essence), gel liner (in2it), eye brow pencil (Empro), 1 light colored and dark colored eye shadow (both from MAC).
