Do you have a frown on your face when you think of winter and cold mornings? If you are more of a “I wish I could move somewhere hot during winter” and “why are my feet so cold” person, as I am, continue reading about how to make your mornings slightly not so cold and way cosier.
As a teenager (a long, long time ago) I had the luxury of sleeping during summer as much as I wanted and could wake up to sun beams on my face (I am not joking, I was lucky to live in a place where summer is really, really hot). Unfortunately, those times are over and as mornings get darker and colder the last thing I want to do is to leave my warm, cosy bed (winter temperatures are not my friends).
Therefore, to start my days as painless as possible I have my routine that helps me wake up, warm up and be ready to take on any task. I have to admit that having a thermostat would be a huge help but in terms of technology, my flat is just not there yet (happy life of a student).
What to do to wake up and resist rolling on the other side to fall asleep?
Have your fluffy, snuggly bathrobe ready to wear next to your bed. I promise there is nothing better than a comfortable, warm bathrobe early in the morning during colder months. I managed to get my from Tiki Maxx.
Keep your feet warm and if you have not treated yourself to a funky, happy slippers, as the one below, do it today! If you are unlucky and your boiler does not have a timer, barefooted walks to kitchen might remind you of a walk in Antarctica (not that I have ever been or intended to go there but on the other hand I do have some experience).
You have your fluffy bath robe and slippers? Now run as your life depends upon it to switch on the heating! Hot shower, a perfect way to wash of the rest of your desires to return to bed. Use your favourite shower gel and justify its price, if it is high, with the benefits of aromatherapy. At the end of the day it is your good mood you are paying for (believe me, I know how I sounded).
|Warm yourself up!|
Have you done this mistake before, forgetten to prepare your outfit last night? That is ok. Just take your super fluffy bath robe and pick something now while you boil water for a hot morning tea. Recently I rediscovered Teapigs. They have a warming up ginger and lemon tea called Lazy Days.
In a rush to leave? Just pour your tea to a travel mug. Ready to face the day!
