As Sunday started I thought how weekends in Aberdeen without a car can be tricky. If you would ask me where would I want to be at this moment in time... I could only answer Mauritius (Girl can dream!). However since I could not go to Mauritius for a weekend I decided to visit something closer to home - the David Welch Winter Gardens in Aberdeen. One of the huge advantages that Mauritius does not offer to me (Yet! Still optimistic!) is that Winter Gardens are located within the city centre so I can walk there.
The Arid House, according to Aberdeen City Council website, has one of the largest collections of Cacti and Succulents in Britain. I usually spend the most of my time there.
Some of the Cacti are definitely way taller than I will ever be even in my high heels (A few years ago I found this thought deeply depressing - one inch later and I was so over this).
During sunny days I really like to sit in the outdoor sections of the garden and watch dumbledors gleefully jumping on the colourful flowers (Yes, I know that they are not jumping and that they are working very hard, probably quite grumpily rather than gleefully but say that to my imagination).
Botanic Gardens are usually very tranquil, what is the main appeal for me. Easy going Sundays are the best! (Cake and hot chocolate? Perfect ending!)
Do you visit botanic gardens time to time?
