Breakfast in Anima Café

Anima Cafe Gdansk
Small café shops hidden from crowds are perfect places to stop by and relax with a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows because diet can wait. Anima Café is in the city centre, just waiting to be discovered after a walk around historic streets of Gdansk. If you are looking for a breakfast choice you can pick from sweet and sour pancakes, sandwiches, scrambled eggs to healthier option such as smoothies.

First time I visited Anima at the morning. No one was around so it was amazing opportunity to take some photos at this point in time. Did you know that sometimes I still get embarrassed when place is busy to take photos?

Anima offers a selection of freshly squeezed juices. I knew I must try it! I decided to be more adventurous than usually so I started off with mint and cucumber juice. Delicious however I was unable to finish my drink as half of it was pulp. I am sure you could eat it with a spoon if you are a big cucumber fun.

I wanted something more so I also decided to have blueberry smoothie. It had different, smoother, with a few tougher bits texture. Personally if I would have to pick only one out of two of them again I would pick smoothie. It could easily be my breakfast as it was rather filling. Great alternative to my usual scrambled eggs.
If smoothie is not enough I suggest to try bake roll with filling. Chicken, tomato, salad and bacon sandwich was seriously tempting me! Especially in a crispy bun.
Healthy Breakfast
I actually visited Anima Cafe twice. A few days later I popped in during afternoon. Almost all tables were taken, including my favourite one next to a window, however we managed to squeeze ourselves in. Place is quite small so it felt quite crowded. Although pancakes with chicken and mushrooms were definitely a great and delicious choice for lunch I would love them to be hotter. Late Autumn and early Winter in Poland can be very cold so warm meals are always appreciated.

I am sure mulled wine would be as delicious as tea I had however it costs twice as much as in other places in Old Town. If you are not travelling on a budget, sure go for it but somehow I prefer to have two glasses of mulled wine than one for the same price, stingy me or savvy me?
As I said before Anima Café is small and it feels very much as someone's living room but that is exactly what makes this place so cosy.  If I would plan  a small celebration or just wanted to chill out with my girls and great tea this place would be on my list.
