If you follow me, you will know that I have decided to take part in an outfit challenge. I am not going to deny it, I was thinking of taking part in one for a while. I spotted some time ago that the 7x7 Outfit challenge was fairly popular, so without much reluctance I joined. Read more about the challenge's guidelines here.
So visiting London for a few days sounded like the perfect occasion to travel with light luggage and have 7 different outfits to pick from. Sounds like a win win solution to me.
For the challenge I picked:
Light Grey Skirt
Black Floral Top
I am not including black waterfall jacket into the count.
First day of the challenge, was also the day in which I traveled so comfy, casual style was my first choice.
Second day and I was rather satisfied with the outfit. I felt good. It could be due to the fact that my red skirt is my favourite item of clothing in my wardrobe at the moment. Throughout the day I managed to have some delightful dim sum at Little Penang and see the fantastic musical Kinky Boots. Their witty humour is straight up my street. I can easily say that this outfit worked for me during the day as well as during a spontaneous date night.
Day three was moderately active with the beautiful June. We managed to see the Vogue 100 exhibition, take a few cheeky photos which we probably should not have, apologise profusely to the lovely staff, and proceed to taking even more photos outside. What can I say! I love meeting fellow bloggers! As I am writing this, there is only one though gong through my head: two weeks later and I still have not sent photos to June! Shame on me!
Day four I am starting to get bored, a lack of accessories with me makes my outfits rather uninteresting. I am also missing colours. At the end of the day it is starting to feel that this challenge might not be for me during my travels. Photos are ok, nothing special. If not for the challenge I would probably not show them on Iga Berry.
My enthusiasm for the chosen clothes started to go away around day four. It was also my last outfit I decided to wear as part of this challenge. I did not actually want to wear it and I would rather have picked an outfit from day one or two to wear again, but this was not the point of the challenge. Maybe accessories would spice things up and save the outfit. However, I am doubtful.
Although I did not manage to finish the challenge, I will definitely give it a go and redo it back at home with all of my accessories available. I was traveling, which means that I did not have all the accessories, jackets, bags, and shoes, which can make a bin bag fashionable.
This time I was also spoilt with the sun in London. I am not convinced this challenge would suit my needs during autumn and winter from practical reasons. I like clean fresh clothes, and I wash my whites, blacks, colours, and lingerie separately. At this point in time, in my opinion, washing one pair of jeans or two tops per wash is not very economical. Similarly, with washing all the clothes together as this would leave me with nothing to wear. Hence I would have to use a dryer, another extra energy cost, and risk it with damaging my clothes.
One important thing, which this challenge pointed out to me, was a clear message that my wardrobe is a combination of styles. It simply means that some of my clothes do not go well with each other. It simply shows my wrong shopping choices and lack of consistency when it comes to fashion. Although I would consider myself an aware customer, I still have a lot to learn.
What are your thoughts? How could I improve?
