Honeymoon in Sicily

I cannot help but wonder where will I go for my honeymoon. Thinking about going away and discovering new places is one of my favourite things to do. I have always had a soft spot for Italy but now I love it even more so since it was one of the first locations I went to as a couple and my dream wedding location. I believe that deep down that I am secretly have an Italian soul.

I had a chance to travel around northern Italy and I loved every single location, architecture and most of all eating outdoors in the sun with the local house wine in my hand. During my first trip around Italy we did not really care where we were staying. However, this time around since it will be a very special occasion and a possible first trip as Mrs and Mr I would want stay in a classic Sicilian villa with a swimming pool just for the two of us; ideally a villa with stunning sea views. I can already imagine just the two of us, do you also feel the urge to hum Bill Withers’ song, embracing and celebrating our marriage under the Sicilian sun. I will start daydreaming in a second!
Sicily is even more tempting when I see such gorgeous photos. Pure temptation to just book a one way ticket and stay there forever. After a quick search I found local websites offering villas for rent. One of them was WishSicily.com with an impressive selection of luxury holiday villas. Summer is not over!

Obviously the first thing I did was to try and find the perfect villa I would love to stay in. Choosing is rather hard, but to name a few that definitely caught my interest were Villa Cecilia Trabia just check out photos, Villa Arte Mare Blue views are just breathtaking, and Antares. Although we are not getting married in Italy our venue has all the features I love about Italian villas such as well kept gardens that create romantic settings, large terraces, tranquil panoramic views, and one of my favourite rustic interiors. Italian’s villas have the huge advantage of connecting contemporary solutions while keeping and enhancing the traditional design with modern touches. This makes villas not only comfortable and luxurious but also practical.
While in Sicily there are definitely a few places and sights I would want to visit due to the mix of cultures that have happened over the years. One of them is in the heart of Sicily’s capitol, magnificent Cattedrale di Palermo kept in Arab-Norman style. I can only imagine how interesting it would be to wander around and get lost for a while in one of the streets.

While researching Sicily I also noticed that spring arrives quite early in February. I am adding a stay in one of Italian villas in Sicily to my bucket list!

Have you ever had a chance to visit? I want to hear all about it!

  1. Sounds like a dream honeymoon! Are you going for a more relaxed or adventurous trip? And what's your finance like?? Xx

    1. I think we will try to combine relaxed holidays with a bit of adventure. We are definitely not one of the couples that could sit on the beach for two weeks. Currently I am exploring all options and then I will worry about finances. ;) x

  2. So amazingly lovely! Thanks for sharing!

    1. I am a big fan of research. The best experiences I heard about and had a chance to take part in were found only because I researched before. For now I am also researching.
