Navy Trench Love | Petite Girl Style

How many trench coats have you had in your life? I have had many different ones and only a couple have fitted me like a glove. Ideally a trench coat should be around 2 inches above the knee, for me it was always an inch, or sometimes more, below it. As a petite girl (5’2’’ almost!) I can tell you that finding a trench coat that does not visually make you shorter is quite a task.

Jack Wills’ women's trench coat in deep navy is my absolute number one! Although my mum is still convinced that my style is the absolute definition of “corporate life” and “play safe”, I am slowly starting to mix and match. On the other hand, I really do not understand why she thinks that about my style, for me my trench coat reminds me more of Audrey Hepburn. Its versatility is what makes it so iconic.

It is one of the easiest for me because in my opinion they are timeless and always in style. I believe that these two colours are definitely winning in terms of the usual consumer choice: stone and black. This is totally understandable as they look chic and elegant with almost any accessorises. Plus, if they have a belt it’s super easy to emphasise and visually take away a few pounds of your waist.

I have noticed that there are more pastel colours appearing in outwear fashion. I am not going to deny that I do have my eye on the rose and pale blue one. My first thought was the short Dollyhill coat in pale blue.  Colours like this do not need many accessories as they are creating the final look for themselves.

Dressing Up
I am a strong believer that trench coats combined with high heels, and a dress is the ultimate sexy look. Throw to it a bracelet, necklace, and little bag and what was once a casual daily trench is now a sophisticated coat.

Dressing Down
Worn over the shoulder, with flats or even trainers (I know! 16 years old me would probably faint at the thought of that!).

Easy! Do you own a trench coat?

    1. Where did you get yours from? Most of the knee length coats are still too long for me.
