Juicy Summer Mornings

As a breakfast creature I am not the most original one. I always try to take the best for myself from what ever the season offers. This usually means that in Spring and Summer my body receives all the goodness it needs such as vitamins, and macro and micro elements, that hopefully will help me survive the colder months without catching cold. This June I am really lucky as I am getting ready for the Big Day with my grandparents.

Whilst I was helping my Grandpa, who is a big fan of prevention , taking care of ourselves, and being mindful that health our starts from the inside, I found a manual juice press.  Do you know what that means? It means that all the berries and fruits are mine and everyday I have had the chance to start and end my day with freshly squeezed juice.

Morning juice is currently a daily event for me and my grandpa. So far we have tested several different combinations:

Rhubab & Orange
Strawberries & Blueberries
Lemon & Rhubab
Strawberries, Rhubab & Ginger - my number one
Bluberries & Lemon
Apple
Apple & Orange
Cinnamon & Raspberries – my grandpa’s number one
Tomatoe & Apple – no one’s number one as it was just too unique for our taste buds

I do not know if it is the weather, sun, and slower life or my morning breakfast change but it is defintely doing wonders. Just like all those adverts you see, I’m going to say ‘Goodbye morning heaviness and hello morning sexiness’. I know cringe, but that’s exactly how I feel after only two weeks of starting my day with fresh juice.

I can only see one disadvantage of this otherwise Eden like situation. A manual juice press takes a considerable amount of time and effort. I have to add that making my favourite carrot juice with a manual juice press is… A pain. My first attempt finished quicker than it started.

If not for the fact that I am on my holidays, I must admit that my inner lazy berry would take over and probably fresh juices would finish as soon as the holidays are over. If I invest in a juicer I will probably look for a quiet one that I can use without being a niusance in a studio flat. Possibly one of Panasonic’s juicers, I must check if they can cope with carrots too! I am still in a mood for a carrot juice with a ginger.

If you are using a juicer, please let me know which one you recommend and if there are any I should avoid.

  2. I've got a nutribullet and when I first got it I used to juice everything but lately I've not been using it, I'm starting to think that I might have to pull it back out of my cupboard!

  3. I've always liked the idea of morning juices, but always a bit lazy. Then we got a blend active and it's very handy, most mornings I had a smoothie of some sort - with it being all in one, it was easy to use and quick to clean too. Minimal fuss. Good effort on all the different juices, I clearly need to get more experimental with mine! Apart from Tomato and Apple, I'll avoid that lol

    1. Hahahaha yeah it's a no for tomato and apple - they just not meant to be together ;) On a day to day basis I cannot imagine myself using a manual juice press, too time consuming.
