Why Did I Create ‘Iga Berry – Travelicious Lifestyle’?

I had been thinking of creating my own website for quite a while and decided to give it a go one day during February. However, everything really kicked off when I started to be more consistent to educate and communicate with my sister. The thing my younger sister does not really like to listen, especially when big sister just cannot understand that she no longer a small baby. Well, for me she will always be, so instead of trying to talk with her and nag her… I started project Safe & Smart Summer, which you can read here. My website became a platform to communicate about travel advice that I wanted my sister to know, so when she refused to listen shew could read instea. Knowing that she is a curious little thing I knew that she was likely to read it.

I want to have a blog, what are the advices you give?

I will share quick 5 rules that I recommend and follow myself.

Always say honestly when content is sponsored, if you bought it, or received recommended goods.
Be selective in the collaborations you do with brands, PR agencies etc. One of the first offers for paid collaborations I was offered was from a bingo or gambling website. They offered me $10 for a follow up link on my website. Just ask yourself if that’s the kind of collaboration you would like to see on one of your favourite websites.

Know how much your time, effort, and skills are worth and do not be afraid to state that when negotiating.

If knowledge about SEO is not your strong point it’s time to start learning. Get familiar with a few terms at the beginning: DA, PA, follow and non-follow links.

Respect your readers, other bloggers, and any people that you work with or might work with.

The rules say that I should nominate 15 other bloggers. Instead I nominate whoever wants to take part. If you do or did please let me know and I will add a link to your post here.

  1. I completely agree with you that you need to be honest with your readers and disclose all sponsored posts, freebies etc. It's easy to get carried away when brands first start approaching you for collaborations. However, it's key to stay true to yourself.

    1. Absolutely! I always really appreciate when I see straight away that someone is honest and transparent about it.
