One Sunny Day | Sopot

Engagement photo shoot was a perfect excuse to go away from rainy Aberdeen into a much sunnier Sopot.

We found ourselves once again drawn into a Baltic Town, Sopot. It has the oldest wooden pier in Europe that, at least for me, easily could be a fabulous destination for a high fashion show. Winter, Spring, Summer, or Autumn the view from pier is always breathtaking.

Sopot is a part of Tri-City, which we visit quite often as Wizzair has a direct flight from Aberdeen. Usually we try to squeeze in a cheeky few hours in Sopot. How could we not knowing that there is our 'must try' foodie place?

Curious swans are not shying away from people and are eager to say hi to almost everyone, who decided to catch sun rays. A juvenile swans were of course with their parents making the whole scene so much more heartwarming.

Sorry, Auntie Iga mode below

Btw. for those scared of swans if you leave swans alone, they won't be interested in you either. They are pretty chilled out and learned how to behave around people. However, they are not pets so they naturally will protect the little ones if provoked. I would say to be on a safe side do not be this person who tries to cuddle a cygnet for a perfect selfie.

Nothing else is needed other than the blue sky.

Even bike racks feel the summer vibe in Sopot.

The impressive building on the photo above is the five star Sofitel Grand Hotel and casino from 1927. It is a hotel with a history so I would love to have a tour around the building, its secret passages if there are any, and basements. I wonder if hotel has any hidden war treasures.

In between trying to look presentable for a photo and catching my dress, which was constantly played with by wind.

 ...stop in Sliwka w Kompot

The name roughly translates as Plum in a Compote. First time we were looking for a place to eat in Sopot, it was the name and simple logo that caught my eye.

Restaurant's name is a variation from a Polish idiom, which means 'being in troubles or in the situation without a clear way out'. The idiom has meaning similarities to English idiom 'to get into hot water' but for me 'Plum in Juice' phrase is more playful kind of trouble. My grandma would say to me that 'I've fallen as a plum into compote' to describe that sweet state of teen infatuation for someone.

Kompot is a beverage made from boiled fruits with sugar, you can make one following Polish Housewife recipe.

So here I was as plum returning to my compote because since we first discovered the place we were in love with delicious food, reasonable prices, and smiley staff.

Banana beer smells of bananas surprise and has a very interesting taste but since I do not particularly enjoy beer I went for a freshly squeezed juice.

Looks mouthwatering, doesn't it? I had food envy for a second or two, but my fish was finger licking too.

Oops, we enjoyed time in Sopot slightly too much because we missed our train back. Thankfully the connection between three cities of Tri-City is well organised so in no time we were on our way back to the airport.
