Funky February! Goals Update

Wow guys! What a month it was! You know that I was having a funky time this January with setting yearly goals and decided to go back to monthly challenges. Flexibility was one of the main reasons why I had decided that this is the way forward for me in 2018! Here it goes, it is about time to review how did I do in February!

What did I want to do?
Be able to run comfortably for 15 minutes without stopping. Just to give you a little bit of context, my current fitness level is minimal at best. I’ve been quite unmotivated during the past months.

How did I do?
Mission accomplished! I started simply with a 5 minute warm up followed by a walk at 6.5km per hour, then a 20 minute 1:1 HIIT routine (1 minute walk at 6.5km, then switch to 1 minute run at 8km per hour which them progressed to 10km per hour), I would finish my run with a 5 minute cooldown walk again at 6.5km per hour. I would try to run every second day. However, due to other commitments a couple of times I was not able to do this so instead I would do a 30 minute exercise routine at home.

I’ve noticed progress after two weeks of this routine and by the 20th of February I was able to run for 15 minutes without stopping and having a burning sensation and tightness in my lungs.

In total I have done 28.2km so far including warm up and cool down time.

What did I want to do?
Create a minimum of 8 posts for February.
Design or find someone to design new header.
Take part in three Twitter chats. Please let me know which ones you recommend! I have not taken part in ages.

How did I do?
I am very happy to say that in February you could read the following posts:
Plus the one you are reading now so I was only 2 posts away from my goal. What is your favourite post from February?

I did not want to rush with a new header design but it is about time to create something that relates to myself more than the old one! I still have to create the header but I changed the colour theme and tweaked a few other things. Let me know if you like new font and if it is easy to read!

I’ve managed to take part in one Twitter chat! It was such a refreshing experience to connect with so many new people! Definitely something that will be on my radar in March.

What did I want to do?
Try new recipe, nothing fancy I really just want to introduce new and easy dishes in my life. I am definitely going to say yes to all the realistic recipes that do not require me to visit the Himalayans for a one off ingredient.

How did I do?
I did not follow a recipe as such because simply I do not own any cooking books however, I embraced what’s in the fridge and created a delicious vegetarian couscous dish with beans, spinach, chestnut mushrooms, and pesto. Definitely one of the easiest dishes! It only took me less than 30 minutes to make including preparation time.

What did I want to do?
Go through the yellow bag of shame that is in the corner of my room and get rid of things that I do not fit/like/need. This bag has been there for months now hence the name 'Bag of Shame'!

How did I do?
The ‘Bag of Shame’ is gone now! Moreover I’ve discovered that only two things from there do not fit me. The space in my room is quite limited so it took a few manoeuvres to find a place for all of the items but finally with a little help from Ikea and Tjena storage box I was sorted! Lack of storage and smart organising solutions is definitely one of the disadvantages that I’ve experienced with renting out a room.

I am ready to achieve March goals! What goals have you achieved?

  1. Love how you set and reflect on your goals every month! I can't run for 15 minutes, so you're doing pretty good there :) And I haven't taken part in any Twitter chats. What one would you recommend?
