Picture Perfect Aberaeron | Visit Wales

Visit Wales Travel in UK with travel blogger Iga Berry
After I slipped into one of my summer dresses, I just love the colour, we were on our way to the charming Aberaeron, around half an hour away from Aberystwyth and a short drive away from the cottage we stayed in, originally it was a fishing port and developed over time especially when the harbour had been built.
The day started well! The sun was out and Aberaeron with its multi coloured houses in the Regency style made the town picture perfect!

Aberaeron offers a variety of restaurants, cafes, and bars. We’ve stopped for lunch in The Hive bar. I could have had their Dirty Pig, and Matador burgers followed with Neopolitan, and Salted Caramel and Pear ice cream sundaes anytime of the day!
The liveliest area was definitely around the harbour where you could try your hand at crabbing with the little ones when the tide is high. Pop along to one of the local shops to get a ‘crabbing kit’. I heard from one of the local residents that bacon is the best bait, which would explain the bits of bacon laying around the harbour. Apparently crabs are not too fussy and simply enjoy just a bit of a raw meat.
I did not have a chance to explore Aberaeron’s cycling paths but renting out a bike should not be a problem. Pure Ride Cycles offers mountain bikes for a full day for £22 or female hybrid bikes for £19*. There are also organised dolphin watching boat trips so you will not be bored.

Instead I strolled around this pretty town and enjoyed watching the sunset along the Welsh coast. It was stunning!

If you are planning your trip check list with the current events in Aberaeron. I definitely would love to be there for the Ceredigion Garden & Craft Festival and Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival.

What are your thoughts about Aberaeron?

  2. We visited Aberaeron for our 4 year anniversary get away and I loved it! I'd never visited that town before but we walked the coastal path from where we stayed all the way to New Quay which was a gorgeous walk but we both got sunburnt (the wind made it feel quite chilly so we didn't know we were burning haha!) We had our evening meal in The Harbour Master which was gorgeous too, great place I'll definitely revisit in the future!
