Reasons to love Sicily

We started our honeymoon in temperamental Italy. Our love affair with Italy started years ago when we first visited the northern part of this fascinating country. I started having a soft spot for Italy from when I was in primary school, and I was being taught about their fascinating mythology. I could not wait to be old enough to travel to the land of mythological creatures, gods, and goddesses such as Cupid, Pluto, Apollo, Venus; the land of famous historic locations such as Pompeii, the Roman Forum, Colosseum; birthplace of the renaissance, and home to great minds such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Casanova, Umberto Eco, Caesar, and others.

Afternoon strolls around tiny streets which oozes history, pouring down onto passing visitors.
Breath taking sunsets and sunrises.
Bruschetta with tomatoes, the aroma and taste is so much stronger than the ones I can find in UK.
The variety of fresh, mouth-watering sea food dishes means I am in heaven. Oily fish, white fish, pink fish, calamari, mussels, langoustines, crabs, squids, you name it!

Octopus salad, my personal favourite especially with a few drops of lemon.

Pistachios, which I find delicious, are everywhere.
The signs of ancient history at your doorstep.

How expressive the Italian language is and the manner of speaking.
People watching can be continued whilst having dinner as many restaurants offer you the option to eat indoors or outdoors.

Coffee breaks in restaurants during the off peak season can last forever. Staff don’t wait behind you breathing down your neck hoping you will leave the restaurant within 15 minutes after you get your coffee so they can get their table back.
